This is a picture of Maharani Sumati, the first wife of Maharajah Prasad, taken just after their wedding (attested by the wedding menhdi on her hands). Maharani Sumati, born into the Nair Clan, was known for her interest in science and western civilization. She was sent to England with her eldest brother the Prince Rajnish, to keep him company during his studies.
While her brother succeed in his political and economical studies, she centered her own around steam vehicle, earning the respect and admiration of her classmates.
Back in India, with the help of her brother, she arranged a wedding with Maharajah Prasad, who agreed to let her built the first Indian Steam Engine, the ISE Vāhana. Coupled with her brother and husband politic and a fructul import-export of both goods and foods by the mean of the Vāhana, she became one of the first lady of the country, in both influence and wealth.
At the death of her husband (rumoured to have been assassinated by political opponent), she fled the palace with his two others wives and their four children and went into hiding among the people. Five years later, she pull down the government with the help of the blacksmith cast, came back to power and put her son on the throne before building the ESI Vāhana II and the Indian Airship Engine, IAE Garuda, the first Airship to make the non-stop flight between Dhaipur and London.
Maharani Sumati died at 72, surrounded by her children and grand-children, aboard the IAE Hamsa, built by her grand daughter Roshan.

Maharani Sumati, née dans le clan Nair, était connue pour son intérêt dans les science et la civilisation européenne. Elle fut envoyée en Angleterre avec son frère, le Prince Rajnish, pour lui tenir compagnie pendant ses études.
Alors que son frère réussissait brillemment ses études polique et économique, elle se concentra sur celle concernant les véhicules à vapeur, gagnant le respect et l'admiration de ses camarades de classe.
De retour en Inde, elle arrangea un mariage avec le Maharajah Prasad, qui accepta de la laisser construire la première locomotive à vapeur Indienne, L'ISE Vāhana. Avec l'aide la polique de son frère et son époux, ainsi qu'un import export fructueux de nourriture et de marchandises, grace au Vāhana, elle devint l'une des premières dame du pays, tant en influence qu'en richesse.
A la mort de son époux (probablement assassiné par de sopossants politique) elle fuit le palais avec ses deux atres épouses etleurs quatres enfants pour se cacher au sein du peuple. Cinq ans plus tard, elle retourna le gouvernement grâce à l'aide de la caste des forgerons, revint au pouvori et installa son fils sur le trone avant de construire l'ESI Vāhana II et l'aérostat Indien, IAE Garuda, le premier aérostat à accomplir le vol sans escale entre Dhaipur et Londres.
Maharana Sumati mourut à l'âge de 72 ans, entourée de ses enfants et petits enfants, à bord de l'IAE Hamsa, construire par sa petite-fille Roshan.
